- Move beyond “stuck” due to fear and indecision
Discord in relationships is inevitable and, actually, a part of any healthy relationship. Learning how to successfully manage that discord goes a long way toward thriving within the relational ups and downs and building intra- and inter-relational muscle. Each relationship has its unique form of discord and communication so there is no one size fits all therapy protocol.
What works for one individual and couple may not work for another. That is why Debra incorporates a range of therapeutic modalities including her training received by Stan Tatkin, PsyD, MFT, clinician, researcher, teacher, and developer of the Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy® (PACT), Drs. John and Julie Schwartz Gottman, of The Gottman Institute, and Pia Mellody’s PIT (Post Induction Therapy for Developmental Immaturity Treatment) model.
In addition, Debra incorporates other methods for healthy and productive communication. Debra is often asked by perspective clients, “Whose side are you on?” to which she states, “I am on the side of health for the relationship!” Debra brings to the couple’s counseling session a firm and direct approach. You will learn how to:
- Succeed with respectful communication
- Resolve conflicts; Not avoid them
- Identify and negotiate differences in values (sex and money) in the marriage
- Validate the relationship’s needs and wants
- Find emotional abundance
