“The Price of Love: Sex, Money and Addiction”
Speaker: Debra L. Kaplan, M.A., LAC, LISAC, CMAT, CSAT-S
When:
Wednesday, April 3, 2013, 7:30 – 10:00 a.m. @ Westward Look Resort
Description:
A couple’s relational currency may speak to what they each value; yet unspoken dynamics often drive their relating. The value of sex and money are two constants in relationship that create negative and positive awareness both in the bedroom as well as in therapy. As if our work with couples isn’t difficult enough what is a therapist to do when sexual and financial exploitation fuse to create a volatile coefficient in coupleship? Drawing on her years on Wall Street, Debra will examine the crossroads of sexual and monetary exploitation including how narcissism and even psychopathy may put many couples at risk for relational distress and/or dissolution.
Objectives:
Identify and understand the spectrum of narcissistic wounding
Identify personality and relational dynamics consistent with exploitive sexual and monetary relational dynamics
List therapeutic interventions for working with exploitation in relationship.
